The Boston Mountain Cyclists would like to announce a few changes for 2006.
At the end of the 2005 racing season, Champion Cycling found themselves heavy on racers and light on club riders. The other Rogers/Bentonville area team, BMC, was just the opposite. In an attempt to capitalize on the strengths of both teams, Champion Cycling and BMC agreed to a merger under the BMC club name. The joining of these two teams will create synergies that were not possible before, and as a result the BMC club will have a better balance of racers and fitness riders.

Excerpt from the January/February edition of Bicycling Magazine.
I thought these were funny because I’ve been there. These are the readers answers to the question, “WHEN IS A RIDE HARD ENOUGH?”.
- When I bonk on a downhill.
- When you keep checking your brakes to see if they’re rubbing.
- When I am vomiting on the EMT who want to put an IV in my arm.
- When my wife has to unclip me from the bike.
- When I stop thinking about pancakes with peanut butter and jam over melted butter or topped with yogurt and fresh fruit, all with a great cup of coffee…and start thinking about a nap.
- When you have to sit down in the shower.
- When I’m cold, tingly and numb—on a hot summer’s day.
- When the finger-waiving lecture from the oncologist last longer than the 2-mile ride to the clinic. And you’re proud that you only had to stop and rest every other block. Hard is a relative term.

PRE-RIDE EATING
Challenge! You don’t have a problem with energy during weekday training because you’re limited to 90 minutes each day. Your normal lunch fuels your after-work ride. But on weekends you have time for a fast-paced 50-75 miles. What should you eat to fuel that kind of effort and distance?
